Study break
Rain is such a blessing. I’ve been studying for my Spanish midterms for about an hour in a little alcove on the second floor. As I paused a moment to collect my thoughts, I began to hear the magical splashes of heaven descend upon the ceramic tiles outside. All the windows are open in this room. The smell of days of heat being washed away is wafting in. It’s divine. The breeze is carrying in an ever so fine mist. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something about rain that makes my heart pound faster, and makes my feet itch as if they want to run and never stop. Sometimes, I give into this urge. There are a few joyful cries of girls who have heeded the call. They’re dancing and giggling with delight at the cool rain that is bathing them. I will not be joining them this time. It’s not that I don’t want to, or that I think I'm above it, I just feel that this time, I’m going to soak in the peace that the rain brings. Rain brings joy and energy, but today, it brought me peace.

Toast
Every time that they pass out sack lunches here in Sagunto, I wish that there was something more I could do to my bread and cheese. They have lettuce and tomatoes but they'd just make my sandwich soggy. Today, they had the giant toasting machine up and running! I toasted my bread with cheese and tomatoes. Good choice.

This irks me.
The other day, I came across a great blog post by Kate Spencer. Being in a foreign country has really made me think about how I feel about sexual harassment. A lot of my friends tell me they enjoy it when a guy checks them out or whistles at them. To be honest, I don't dislike it too much myself but when it's aggressive or in the middle of the night, in a moment of vulnerability, it's just not right. My initial reaction is usually to clench my fists, walk faster and put on the "bitch" face. I would just prefer that if a guy thinks I'm attractive, he not make suggestive motions and circle around the block with his friends howling at the top of his lungs. Let's leave it to a whistle and maybe a wink at most. Keep it kosher.
